| Once
we have reviewed all the locations we will put together
an initial structure and again, discuss our plans with you.
We will show you, page by page, each step of how we will
photograph your day and alternatives at each turn. The alternatives
could simply be an another photographic location, position
or a contingency arrangement if the day doesn't unfold as
expected - which we hope will not be required. The scouting
motto of “Be Prepared” is a very good mantra to follow.
Of course, we have no intentions of becoming
overbearing or bossy and will certainly never take over
to the extent that the day ends up being all about the photos.
However, we may need to take charge every once in a while
– moving family, friends and guests into position, or getting
the bridal party together in time to make the most of natural
lighting conditions.
We will not know anyone at your wedding,
so now is a good time to review your guest list and suggest
a few group shots you want taken, detailing each person’s
name and their relationship to the bride and groom. We will
also suggest a few scenarios we would like to photograph
and by working together, we can identify the people who
will best suit the bill. Then, if possible, nominate one
of your bridal party to work with us on the day to help
make all this possible. Other members of the wedding party
can be used to help steer the right people, to the right
location at the right time for each planned photograph.
And finally, there are the close-up and
intimate photographs– a close-up of the rings, a first
kiss, a lingering kiss, you emerging from the car or having
a last hug with your father – together we will make
sure that nothing is missed.
Can the bridal party help?
How can we best archive all of these photographic
requirements in the time available?
Nearer to the day, possibly at the wedding
rehearsal, we can meet the bridesmaids, best men, ushers
and other members of the bridal party, and confirm with
them what we will be doing on the day. For instance, your
bridesmaids can play an additional role by paying careful
attention to your dress and ensure that it is laid out properly
once you arrive at the altar or marriage table. We can help
keep you looking at your best at other times.
Irrespective of the style of photography
you want on your day, even pure photojournalism, it pays
to research and plan as much as possible. It doesn’t take
as long as it sounds and end results prove that the effort
is more than worthwhile. To make it up on the day (wing
it!) is not for us.
